The Indianapolis Colts will start Sam Ehlinger at quarterback for the remainder of the season, coach Frank Reich announced Monday.

Quarterback Matt Ryan, who started the Colts' first seven games, has a Grade 2 separation of his shoulder, but Reich said the move isn't being made because of injury.

Sam Ehlinger wouldn't be the Texas starter today.

Carson Wentz stench takes two years to wear off.

Matty Ice is 4th in the league in passing. 1 yard from 3rd. Not saying it means much though.

Drunk pill popping owner who slurs like Joe Biden 2.0 and inside circles know his troubles with the ladies. Speaking out over Snyder wanting him removed because of sexual misconduct. Signs off on 65 year old Rivers 2020. Signs off on Wentz 2021. Signs off on Ryan 2022. Costing draft capital and salary cap hits. Now calls for Ryan to be benched.

Ryan looks okay nothing special. Moe Cox, Rookie Woods at TE. Pittman and Rookie Pierce are talented. OL not same OL as last year but still good. Taylor Pittman Hines Kelly missing games hurt but not a killer

Colts tied week 1. Texans aren’t bad. Plus colts have won 1 week 1 game the past 10 years vs a Tyrell Pryor QB raiders team. A tie was welcomed imo

Week 2 vs Jax he was throwing to Dulin Patmon Granson Cox Strachan. Let that sit in an wonder why they didn’t score lol. That was the receiving weapons that game lol.

Ryan new team coaches system. All takes a bit of time. Hasn’t looked great. But has slung it around enough to get em where they are. Not like they are world beaters running the ball. 1-1 vs Titans and Jags and hold a tie which can come in handy. Division can still easily be won. Couple more weeks and Ryan May have progressed a bit more.

Irsay is just a drunk idiot. Give him the clip board and let him coach

With Wentz, they looked like a playoff team, and a good one at that, until the last two weeks

With Ryan, they look like the Colts looked in the last wto games from last year

Matt Ryan after benching: Have to embrace being Colts backup.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Matt Ryan came to work Monday morning planning to rehab his sore right shoulder and turn his attention to the Washington Commanders.
But the Indianapolis Colts quarterback was instead hit with the stunning news that he had lost his starting job to 2021 sixth-round pick Sam Ehlinger.
"As a player, you just always anticipate, you're getting ready, you're going to go," Ryan said Wednesday in his first comments since the Colts' decision. "And so that's where your mindset's at. There is a little bit surprise and shock at the beginning, but it's a decision they had to make and, as a player, as a teammate, you have to move forward and you've got to help out where you can.
Ryan has missed just three starts in his 15-year career and has never been a backup, even in his rookie season with the Atlanta Falcons. But after committing 12 turnovers in his first seven games in Indianapolis, he now finds himself sitting behind a 24-year-old who has never thrown a pass in a regular-season game -- a position Ryan will hold even after he returns from his separated shoulder, according to coach Frank Reich.
"It's not something I've dealt with," Ryan said of being a backup. "But I've been around a long time and seen that it happens.
"So I've always preached that you've got to accept and embrace the role that they decide for you and try and be the best in that role that you can be. And that's what I'll do."
Reich, asked why the Colts are making such a dramatic move in spite of their 3-3-1 record and second-place standing in the AFC South, rejected the idea that Indianapolis is giving up on the season.
"I can tell you this for sure: Nobody is waving the white flag," Reich said. "It's not in my DNA. It's not in our players' DNA. I would never do that in a million years. I just couldn't do that."
As for the team's reaction to the quarterback decision, center Ryan Kelly suggested the response was mixed.
"Everybody's got their own opinions about it," Kelly said. "I'm not going to get into mine, but certainly, I think everybody's a little bit surprised. So it is what it is."

I hope he heals up but I also think he should just retire.

I'd imagine Irsay has seen enough of the QB carousel and is ready to mail in the season, land a top 10 draft pick, and hopefully find the future franchise QB.

No way there mailing it in. think Sam is the Mobil player they need to right the ship. He’s got 9+- weeks to make a go at it and in a division that is anyones taking this kid has an oppurtunity. Maybe the most expensive offensive line in the nfl will finally show up and give this kid a legit shot.
